Nobody looks forward to cold and flu season. But Horizon Health Care offers some tips to weather the challenges of winter.
“Getting your flu shot is essential to staying healthy,” says Misty Rudebusch, Horizon’s Medical Director. “It’s the quickest, easiest thing you can do for you and your family.”
Rudebusch notes that flu strains evolve every season and flu shots are your best weapon in combating the flu.
In addition, Horizon offers several other tips to stay well this winter.
• Wash your hands regularly with warm water and soap
• Regularly clean and sanitize your home surfaces
• Stay hydrated and avoid sharing cups or utensils
• Stay home from work or school if you’re ill
• Consult your provider and keep your regular wellness checkups
“Regular exercise and a healthy diet are important, too” adds Rudebusch. “When you practice healthy habits, you’ll decrease your risks of severe cold or flu and put yourself on the best path for long term wellness, no matter the season.”
