(HOWARD, SD) – Brady L. Kerkman is the new Director of Development for the Horizon Health Foundation. He is experienced in the development world and is a solid addition to the Horizon leadership team.
Growing up in a small town in Nebraska, Brady knows the value of accessible care for all regardless of a community’s location or population. He has 14 years of experience working in a variety of health care positions including administration, development, policy making and marketing.
Brady Kerkman joined the Horizon staff as its new Development Director.
Brady has a strong passion for delivering equal access to high quality health care for communities like those served by Horizon. He has lived throughout South Dakota and understands the challenges rural communities face when it comes to accessing health care including dental and behavioral health services.
“I am committed to working to develop resources for the patients of Horizon Health, by going above and beyond the industry standard to increase the Foundation’s achievements and meet patients in need where they are,” Brady said.
He began his post-secondary education at Mount Marty University in Yankton, South Dakota, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in social science with a focus on psychology and sociology. He went on to study organizational leadership at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. He earned a master’s degree there in 2021. In addition to his formal degrees, Brady is certified as a forensic interviewer by the National Children’s Advocacy Center. Throughout his career he has worked with a variety of communities in South Dakota. The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe honored its relationship with him by presenting him with a star quilt.
For nearly 20 years, Brady has been happily married to his wife, Maria, a clinical social worker. The couple has one child, Dimitri, who aspires to become a doctor of obstetrics and gynecology. The family includes two French bulldogs named Giulio and Giada. Brady has traveled extensively throughout the United States and visited Mexico, Canada and Italy.
In his spare time, he enjoys working in his yard, restoring old pieces of furniture, and spending time with his family and two Frenchies.
