Teresa Marts, MD, and Alyssa Hicks, CNP, Join Mission Community Health Center

Horizon Health Care, Inc. (Horizon) is pleased to welcome Teresa Marts, MD, and Alyssa Hicks, CNP, to Mission Community Health Center. Marts and Hicks will join Larry Dubray, PA, Rachele Vietor, PA-C, Spencer Mason, PA-C, Autumn Tucker, CNP, Ryan Rowe, CNP, and Haley Brunke, PA-C, to provide primary care medical services to the Mission community.

Teresa Marts, MD, attended Mount Marty College in Yankton, SD, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. She then went on to receive a Doctorate of Medicine degree from the University of South Dakota School of Medicine. She completed her residency at the Siouxland Medical Education Foundation in Sioux City, IA. Marts has prior experience with Horizon’s patients and providers, having served as a contracted supervising physician. Along with seeing patients at Mission Community Health Center, she will also be available for appointments at Horizon’s Mellette County Community Health Center and Martin Community Health Center.

“I am looking forward to returning to Horizon after being gone the last 2 years,” said Teresa Marts, MD. “I would like to emphasize preventative care, care of the whole family, and chronic disease management.” Marts, who is from Winner, SD, is married to husband, Ed, and has 4 children.

Alyssa Hicks, CNP, attended South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. After practicing as a registered nurse for the past 6 years, with nearly 4 of those years spent with Horizon, she chose to continue her education by attending Walden University of Minneapolis, MN. She is a recent graduate with a Master’s of Science in Nursing as a family nurse practitioner.

“I chose to pursue a career as a family nurse practitioner after practicing as a registered nurse for 6 years. I look forward to staying close to home and providing care to the communities I grew up around,” said Alyssa Hicks, CNP. “I believe in compassionate, patient-centered care that focuses on preventative health to promote happy and healthy lifestyles.”

Hicks, who is from White River, SD, is married to husband, Joshua, and has a daughter, Stella. In her free time, she enjoys ranching, sports, gardening and spending time with family.

Both providers are now available for appointments and accepting new patients.
