(HOWARD, SD) – John Mengenhausen was recently named the recipient of the Community Health Association of the Mountains/Plains States’ (CHAMPS) 2016 Presidential Award. The award was presented by CHAMPS with sincere appreciation for his commitment, vision, and steadfast leadership.

Mengenhausen has led Horizon Health Care, Inc. as Chief Executive Officer for over thirty years. Through a number of mergers and expansions over the past three decades, Mengenhausen has led the organization to grow into 26 medical and dental clinics across the state of South Dakota. Horizon has also become the largest Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in South Dakota. Mengenhausen serves on numerous state, regional, and national boards and organizations and is respected for his expertise in the field of community health center leadership.
