(WESSINGTON SPRINGS, SD) – Horizon Health Care, Inc. (Horizon) and Jerauld County Dental Clinic, in collaboration with the University of Minnesota, are pleased to introduce two dental students who are doing their clinical rotations in Wessington Springs from September 10 – October 5.
The two students visiting Wessington Springs this year are Peggy Stepan of Sturgeon Lake, MN, and Ashley Zimm of Hutchinson, MN. Peggy, who enjoys going on new adventures, spends her free time playing basketball, biking, running, baking and ice skating. Following dental school, Peggy’s plans are to become a solo general practitioner in a rural community similar to the one she was raised in.
Ashley enjoys spending time outdoors, biking, cross country skiing and running. She is currently training for her first marathon. She also loves spending time with her husband, Reece, and their dog, Kona. Following dental school, Ashley is excited to start working as a general dentist.
“It is a pleasure to once again welcome the dental students from UMN to Wessington Springs,” said Dr. Michelle Scholtz, Chief Dental Officer of Horizon. “Our partnership has been very beneficial to Horizon, as we have been fortunate to hire six dentists (including Dr. Nick Thome of Jerauld County Dental Clinic) to work at our dental clinics after their rotations. These dental rotations are a great opportunity to bring dental students back to our rural communities.”
