[HOWARD, SD] — Horizon Health would like to announce its new Chief Financial Officer Richard Grooms.
During the last 12 years, Grooms has dedicated his professional life to serving as a chief financial officer for federally qualified health centers like Horizon. FQHCs are primary care clinics that receive federal funding to provide comprehensive healthcare to underserved communities regardless of the patient’s ability to pay. Known as community health centers, they are a crucial part of the nation’s healthcare safety net.
Richard Grooms has joined the Horizon Health family as its new Chief Financial Officer.
“We are excited to add Richard to the Horizon Health team,” said Horizon CEO Wade Erickson. “His community health center experience will be instrumental in the continuing success of our organization’s mission to provide care to anyone who needs it across South Dakota.”
Grooms holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a Master of Business Administration in Healthcare Management from Western Governors University. He earned those degrees in 2013 and 2016, respectively.
“Horizon Health has a unique service area compared to the urban health centers I have worked for in the past,” Grooms said. “I am excited to be a part of the team that assures we have high quality healthcare throughout South Dakota.”
In his spare time, he loves indulging in all aspects of the culinary arts from grocery shopping to cooking and baking. Grooms also enjoys taking walks after dinner, reading, riding his motorcycle and volunteering in the community.
