Horizon Health Care to Provide Free Dental Exams to Children in February 2018

Jan 23, 2018 | Blog

Horizon Health Care, Inc.’s eight dental locations will be offering a free dental exam and cleaning for all children ages five and under during the month of February, in conjunction with Children’s Oral Health Month.

According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, more than fifty percent of children will be affected by tooth decay before age five. “It is recommended that a child should see a dentist when their first tooth appears, or by his or her first birthday,” said Dr. Michelle Scholtz, Horizon’s Chief Dental Officer. “If it’s time to plan your child’s first visit to the dentist or a return check-up and cleaning, this is the perfect opportunity for them to receive a free dental exam.”

The American Dental Association started Children’s Oral Health Month to bring together thousands of dental professionals, healthcare providers, and educators to promote the benefits of good oral health to children, their caregivers, teachers, and many others. It is crucial for children to begin seeing the dentist at an early age to avoid developing dental issues or tooth decay. Tooth decay is the most common childhood disease, affecting nearly sixty percent of children, and impacts your kids’ medical health as well. According to the American Dental Hygienists Association, every dollar spent on preventative dental care could save you $8 to $50 in restorative and emergency dental treatments (and potentially more in additional types of medical treatment).
Free dental exams will be offered at all of the Horizon Health Care dental locations during the entire month of February. All patients must have an appointment to receive this promotion, which will include a free dental exam, cleaning, and fluoride treatment. If you are interested in scheduling a free dental exam for your young child, call your local Horizon dental clinic today.
