De Smet Dental Services Welcomes Outreach Students

(DE SMET, SD) – Horizon Health Care, Inc. (Horizon) and De Smet Dental Services, in collaboration with the University of Minnesota, are pleased to introduce two dental students who are doing their clinical rotations in De Smet from September 9 – October 5.

The two students visiting De Smet are Madeline Pfeiffer of Sioux Falls, SD, and Nick Moore of Kansas City, MO. Madeline completed her undergraduate degree at Augustana College in Sioux Falls. She enjoys watching soccer, reading, playing the clarinet and spending time at the cabin with her family. After dental school, Madeline is interested in opportunities that will bring her back to South Dakota.

Nick, who is a Kansas City Chiefs fan, enjoys cooking and working out. After graduation, his goal is to provide dentistry in a rural community. “I’m looking forward to my time in South Dakota and want to thank the city of De Smet for welcoming me with open arms,” said Nick.

“It is a pleasure to once again welcome the dental students from UMN to De Smet,” said Dr. Michelle Scholtz, Chief Dental Officer of Horizon. “Our partnership has been very beneficial to Horizon, as we have been fortunate to hire six dentists (including Dr. Brady Weispfennig and Dr. Lamar Koistinen of De Smet Dental Services) to work at our dental clinics after their rotations. These dental rotations are a great opportunity to bring dental students back to our rural communities.”

Prairie Winds Dental Clinic Welcomes Outreach Student

(HOWARD, SD) – Horizon Health Care, Inc. (Horizon) and Prairie Winds Dental Clinic, in collaboration with the University of Minnesota, are pleased to introduce a dental student who is doing her clinical rotations in Howard from September 10 – October 5.

The student visiting Howard is Skyler Moderow of Casselton, ND. Moderow completed her undergraduate degree at the University of North Dakota, during which she joined the North Dakota Air National Guard. Her plans after dental school include attending an AEGD (Advanced Education in General Dentistry) Dental Residency at the Air Force. Following her AEGD Dental Residency, she will work as a dentist in the Air Force for four years. Moderow, who was recently married, is looking forward to the married life with her husband, Konstantine, who works at the Ellsworth Air Force Base. Her interests include reading and watching Netflix and swimming, tubing and jet skiing at her parent’s lake cabin.

Prairie Winds Dental Clinic Welcomes Outreach Student

(HOWARD, SD) – Horizon Health Care, Inc. (Horizon) and Prairie Winds Dental Clinic, in collaboration with the University of Nebraska Medical Center, are pleased to introduce a dental student who is doing her clinical rotations in Howard from March 19 – April 5.

The student visiting Howard is Megan Eitemiller of Chadron, NE. Eitemiller’s plans after dental school include joining a private practice closer to home as an associate dentist. Her interests include cooking, outdoor activities and traveling.

De Smet Dental Services Welcomes Outreach Students

De Smet Dental Students(DE SMET, SD) – Horizon Health Care, Inc. (Horizon) and De Smet Dental Services, in collaboration with the University of Minnesota, are pleased to introduce two dental students who are doing their clinical rotations in De Smet from September 11 – October 9.

The two students visiting De Smet are Jake Stricherz of South Shore, SD, and John Weber of Milbank, SD. Jake attended University of Minnesota for his undergraduate degree, and then joined the Air Force, prior to moving back to Minneapolis for dental school. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, and watching his younger brother play football. After dental school, he plans to work in Western MN for a small practice.

John completed his undergraduate degree at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. He enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, traveling, and anything that involves the outdoors. When he was younger, John participated in many wrestling and basketball tournaments in the De Smet community. After graduation, John plans to come back to South Dakota to join a dental practice. “I am very excited to return to my home state to serve and gain experience in De Smet,” said John.
